This summer kicked off with some very exciting TV news. Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa has been announced as the next doctor in BBC’s Doctor Who. The star told the press on the televised BAFTAs red carpet that he was “honoured” to take on the iconic role.
It was the return of Eurovision and TikTok sensation Sam Ryder more than wowed the judges with his hit song Space Man. The singer, who was the UK entry, ended up coming in at No. 2, making him not only the highest-scoring UK entry since 1998, but also the highest-scoring UK entry of all time. .
It’s become one of the highest-grossing films of all time since its May release, and Tom Cruise’s return as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell has come back strong. The sequel premiered in London and featured the entire cast, including the A-List actor himself and some special royal guests! Prince William and Kate Middleton, who are self-proclaimed fans of the film, walked the red carpet with Tom to celebrate the release of Top Gun: Maverick.

Little Mix wrapped up their Confetti Tour this summer, which marked the start of the girl group hiatus. The group, who have insisted they are not breaking up for good, have temporarily parted ways to work on individual projects, as well as raising families in the case of Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
And the Ivor Novello awards returned properly for the first time since the pandemic and it marked many firsts for some big names in the industry, including Sam Fender, who landed his first-ever gong on his massive hit Seventeen Going Under. HELLO! I caught up with Sam at the event as he told us about his plans to break into America…
June kicked off with a very special celebratory weekend to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. The weekend was filled with exciting events including Trooping the Colour, a service of thanksgiving and a star-studded concert. Saturday night performances featured big ensembles like Queen and Adam Lambert, Rod Stewart and Alicia Keys.
Britney Spears was right to rejoice since the singer married her companion Sam Asghari! The Toxic hitmaker tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony held at their home in Thousand Oaks, Calif., which was attended by many top stars, including Madonna, Selena Gomez and Paris Hilton.

It was the news that no BTS wanted to hear. The k-pop group announced on their YouTube channel that they will be taking a break as a seven-piece group to focus on individual projects. However, the band’s management then insisted that it was not technically a hiatus, but that the band was taking time off to work on solo projects. Hope they get back together soon!
Justin Bieber has been forced to cancel his Justice Tour after suffering from a health issue. The Peaches singer told his fans on social media that he has Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. The entertainer was unable to move or feel half of his face, but luckily he has since made a full recovery and is back to performing.
And it was the return that festival-goers were all waiting for. After a three-year hiatus Glastonbury Festival has returned and it did not disappoint. Many big names have taken to the stage to perform including Megan Thee Stallion, Years and Years, Olivia Rodrigo and many more. But it was headliners Sir Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Diana Ross who caught the attention of the crowds.

After disappointing fans earlier this year, Adele finally announced in July that her Las Vegas residency was back. The Easy On Me singer has revealed she will be returning to the Sin City Coliseum for a three-month stretch of back-to-back shows. Adele said in the post that she understands her decision to cancel was horrible for her fans, but it was the right call.
Noah Schnapp, the actor of Doja Cat and Stranger Things, found himself embroiled in a very public estrangement. The Kiss Me More singer slammed the actor for sharing his private messages on Tik Tok, which showed Doja asking about the relationship status of Noah co-star Joseph Quin. Doja called the video a “whack” but has since forgiven him after publicly apologizing.
Brad Pitt landed in London to celebrate the release of his new film Bullet Train. The award-winning actor even spoke to HELLO! on the film and her special bond with co-star and close friend Sandra Bullock.
Beyonce released her first album in six years and she did not disappoint. The global superstar released revival at the end of July and has already broken records in the process. The album is Beyonce’s seventh studio album and features the summer’s hit song, Break My Soul.
And after surprising everyone in Hollywood with their 2021 reunion, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck tied the knot in Las Vegas. The couple, who first got engaged in 2002 before their split and subsequent marriages to others, declared I Do at the Little White Chapel in Vegas in a small, intimate ceremony. the couple then reportedly had a second wedding more recently at Ben’s Georgia mansion.

August has started on a sad note following the news that Dame Olivia Newton John has passed away at the age of 73. friend and Grease co-star John Travolta, who called her “incredible”.
Lady Gaga has been announced as a new cast member for the highly anticipated Joker sequel. The film, which will see Joaquin Phoenix return to his role as the main character, will welcome the singer of Bad Romance for the second film titled Folie à Deux and which is scheduled for release in 2024.
It was a historic moment for England when the Lionesses beat Germany in the Euro final, marking the end of a 56-year wait. The 2-1 score against England meant the team lifted a major trophy for the first time since 1966 – and the Duke of Cambridge was there to congratulate the team on their fantastic win.
Speaking of the Cambridges, Prince William and Kate Middleton have officially confirmed reports that they will be moving their family of five out of London. The Duke and Duchess and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, will move to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to be closer to the Queen. It was also announced that the children would attend Lambbrook School in Berkshire.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced they will return to the UK next month for the first time since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are flying out to visit several charities close to their hearts. The news came shortly before the release of Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, which was released this week on Spotify featuring tennis champion Serena Williams.
