Everything Coming and Leaving Netflix in August 2021: No More “The Witcher”

Netflix can’t (and won’t, thank goodness) stop releasing content, and a sparkling new set of arrivals will be here for August. This means that not only will you have a good reason to hide from the heat, but this Delta variant as well. With that in mind, there is so much to come that it’s worth listing the biggest headlines to come, and that includes a installment in The witcher franchise. Not only that, but Sandra Oh’s latest TV show (don’t worry, it’ll end anyway Kill Eve with a fourth and final season for BBC America) will immerse us in the surprisingly dramatic side of academia.

Additionally, charismatic Jason Momoa stars in his own Netflix movie while the latest The kissing booth effort sees the final film (?) of the trilogy. Narcos fans will be excited to see a new crime docusery on the coke, coke and more coke path of two notorious stinks who reveled in evading law enforcement. And there is a quirky series that will bring you Halloween vibes in the middle of summer, so get your bingewatching instinct ready.

Here’s everything coming to (and leaving) Netflix in August.

The Witcher: The Wolf’s Nightmare (Netflix movie streaming 08/23)

To move us forward to The witcherSeason Two is coming with Geralt of Rivia more cranky, please set your schedules accordingly for this prequel animated film. The image will travel back in time to explore the early years of monster hunting for Geralt’s mentor Vesemir, who seems to be having a lot more fun than his successor. Theo James voices the character, who will be played live by Kim Bodnia later. At least we’ll know that while Witcher’s iconic baths only recently went canon, they’ve always been there, at least retroactively. Zombies too.

The chair (Netflix series streaming 8/20)

Sandra Freaking Oh is headlining this show about the first woman of color to become president of a leading university. Adjusting to her job, she faces dizzying expectations as one of the university’s foundational programs collapses. Jay Duplass co-stars, and are we ready for Sandra Oh supremacy? This trailer also features the latest song (aptly titled “Oh!”) From viral teenage punk stars The Linda Lindas.

Nice girl (Netflix movie streaming 8/20)

Sweet tooth, This is not the case. Still, the pun will fall apart when Jason Momoa seeks revenge on the pharmaceutical company he says is responsible for his wife’s death. He seeks the truth and tries to protect his daughter, and he is flanked by The Hangover Justin Bartha from the trilogy, which isn’t that funny here. Seriously, Momoa might be all over the streaming business these days, but whatever it does is worth watching, and this movie might perform a bit well socially as well.

Cocaine Cowboys: Kings of Miami (Netflix streaming series 7/4)

There’s so much shot in this trailer, which gives the documentary treatment the excessively-filled lives of two childhood buddies who have turned into powerful Miami drug lords over the decades. There is a tiger, bullfights, speedboats and money flying everywhere, it’s no wonder “Los Muchachos” is so popular. They were also sliding companions, due to their status as world champion in motorboat racing. A $ 2 billion empire eventually collapsed, but not without a courageous fight from the duo and their opponents in court.

The kissing booth 3 (Netflix movie aired on 08/11)

This objectively bad franchise doesn’t seem to stop, but that could be the end of the trilogy. At least Joey King is doing well for herself here, although this episode sees her character wringing her hands over whether she should go to college with her best friend, Lee, or the dreamy-faced Noah. Yeah, that’s a very silly thing, but watch the clicks happen anyway.

New cherry flavor (Netflix series streaming on 08/13)

This luscious series is aimed at a niche audience, but might find a dedicated mainstream fan base as well. There is sex, magic, revenge, and felines at their fingertips for an early 1990s filmmaker trying to be successful in Hollywood, but things get very scary. Halloween is coming early this year, and with time running out of steam, all is well.
