miss this morning buzzcast? SBJ’s David Albright talks about the future of Disney’s DTC.

Leonard Armatoa longtime leader in the sports world who has represented Lakers big Shaquille O’Neal and Kareem Abdul Jabbaris the last name in bold to dispute HBOthe representation of jerry west on “winning time.”

Armato, in the latest editorial of SBJwrites that he “refused to watch” the series after learning of “the deplorable and defamatory manner in which the producers portrayed” West.

Armato: “The underlying problem here is the insatiable need for content to fill all distribution channels and the pressure on media companies to attract viewers at all costs. Their shows are becoming TV’s version of ‘clickbait’. “. In this case, the HBO show has caught your eye with a depiction of Jerry West’s extreme and deplorable conduct that can’t help but stick out in people’s minds and you’re intrigued by the crazy thing that he will do next.

Media companies like HBO don’t care if it’s at someone’s expense and seem comfortable deliberately and maliciously twisting the truth knowing full well that these public figures will be portrayed in a defamatory manner. They know these cases are tough for public figures to win and someone like Jerry West might be reluctant to engage in a protracted and emotionally draining legal battle.”
