ONE of the highlights of the social calendar in Swindon is expected to return next year to raise funds for Prospect Hospice.
Singer and artist Jonathan Wilkes will host the event at the Steam Museum on May 14 starting at 7 p.m. with a suave super-spy theme.
The pandemic forced the hospice to cancel the big fundraiser in 2020 to mark Prospect’s 40th anniversary, but the team are happy to bring it back.
Every event that the hospice usually hosted throughout the year had to be deleted for Covid security reasons as the virus spread across the country.
But with fewer restrictions in place, hopes are high that the event should be able to take place in the spring.
Revenue Manager Sheryl Crouch said: “We are really looking forward to hosting our charity ball in 2022 after a two year hiatus and we would like our supporters to join us.
“It will be a James Bond themed ball with first class entertainment, fine dining and a chance to win fabulous prizes at our auction and raffles including a diamond jewel gift from the jewelers Old Town Deacons. ”
Jonathan Wilkes is organizing the ball and will perform with his group. He is a patron of Prospect Hospice and has organized the association’s ball since its inception in 2010.
He has played major roles in West End musicals including The Rocky Horror Show, Grease, Tommy and Chicago and has performed on television. Jonathan and his wife Nikki run the Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts in Swindon.
He said: “I have seen first-hand the incredible work Prospect Hospice does after caring for a family member at the end of their life.
“I am very proud to support the work they do and to help them care for many more families like mine.
“The Full Length and Fabulous Charity Balls are wonderful events and I look forward to welcoming Hospice supporters to the ball in 2022.”
Over the years, the events have raised over £ 200,000 for Prospect Hospice, enabling the team to provide the best possible care to people at the end of their life and support their loved ones.
Sheryl added, “We have had businesses and their employees, families and friends of hospice patients who have attended our balls in the past, so if you are looking for a fantastic night out with coworkers, family or friends, you really don’t like I don’t want to miss our Full Length and Fabulous Ball. You will help make a real difference in the lives of local people who need our care.
Tickets for the ball cost £ 80 per person or £ 800 for a table of 10. To book, email [email protected] or call 01793 816159.
